Configuring Update Settings for the Zscaler App

Zscaler regularly releases new versions of the Zscaler App, but you as an admin can decide what app version is used by your organization.

Once your users enroll with the Zscaler App, the App automatically checks every two hours to see if an updated version is available to download. Alternatively, the user can click Update App in the More window of the App to check for and download any available updates. See image below.

You as an admin can control which version is available for downloading, or you can make no versions available for downloading. Below are your options:

  • Auto-Update to Latest Version upon Release: Have the Zscaler App automatically update to the latest version without any admin action. When Zscaler releases a new version, the App will automatically download that version the next time the App does a check, or if the user clicks Update App. See instructions.
  • Auto-Update to Selected Version: Download a new version (or any available version) and test it for yourself to ensure it meets your organization's needs. If satisfied, you can select this version in the Zscaler App Portal. Once you select the new version, the App will automatically download it the next time the App does a check, or if the user clicks Update App. See instructions.

Note: Zscaler recommends that you choose this update option so that your organization can test and confirm new versions of the Zscaler App work for your organization before the App is updated on all user devices.
  • No Auto-Update: Take total responsibility for updating the app using your own mechanism (for instance, using GPO to do a fresh install of the desired version). The App will never update on its own. See instructions.
